Amelia has a BFA in Acting from Tisch, NYU, where she studied at Strasberg with Geoffrey Horne, Bill Balzac and Debra Wiley. While at Tisch, she also studied Viewpoints with Mary Overlie, clowning with Christopher Bayes, spent a semester in Dublin and her senior year at Stonestreet Film and Television Studio. Amelia holds an MA in Educational Theater from Steinhardt, NYU.
As an actor, Amelia primarily works with EMIT (Educational, Mobile, Immersive, Theater) and with Red Monkey Theater Group, where she is also the Education Director. Roles include Hunter in Neil Gaiman’s NEVERWHERE, Silvia in Two Gentlemen of Verona, Chick in Crimes of the Heart, Lynsander/Flute in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lady Capulet in Romeo and Juliet, Gertrude in Hamlet and Sebastian in The Tempest.
As a teacher, Amelia has taught at New York Film Academy in their Tweens and Adult programs, as well as at the Bronx Charter School for the Arts and Bronxville Adult School. Amelia is a Public Speaking instructor at the New York Botanical Garden’s School of Professional Horticulture, and is the founder of Elora Theater Arts, an educational theater company. Amelia lives in the Bronx with her husband and daughter Elora, who follows her to almost every rehearsal, and also loves to come through Strasberg’s red doors.
