YOUNG ACTORS AT STRASBERG LOS ANGELES

ACTING CLASSES FOR KIDS & TEENS IN LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles is home to the largest group of film and television production studios in the world. Theatre, film, and television projects thrive under Southern California’s sunny skies, and the industry generates near-constant demand for actors, including trained and capable young actors.

The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute has been providing meaningful acting classes for kids in Los Angeles and training the world’s most celebrated actors in The Method for decades. Child acting involves real work but acting for kids and teens should also be creative and fun. Our youth acting classes provide crucial instruction and encouragement, focusing on the specific needs and challenges of young actors while maintaining a sense of fun and adventure.

Course offerings at Young Actors at Strasberg (YAS) include Method Acting, Acting for Film & TV, Being an Artist, Storytelling & Collaboration, Character Development, Animal, Fitzmaurice Voicework. Centrally located in West Hollywood, The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute is the best possible place for acting classes for kids in Los Angeles.

YOUNG ACTORS – Fall 2020

Choose from a 5 or 10 Week program.

Teens (Grades 9-12)

High School students only.



As one of the longest-running programs of Los Angeles acting classes for kids and teens, several of today’s stars of stage and screen got their start in the Young Actors Program at Strasberg — including Angelina Jolie, Harry Hopper, and Laura Dern.

YEAR LONG SATURDAY PROGRAMS

YAS 1 (GRADES K-2)

During our 8-9 week Fall, Winter, and Spring Saturday sessions, our Kindergarten – 2nd grade Young Actors will participate in an age appropriate Musical Theatre Production class that culminates with a performance. This program is designed to be a fun introduction to the world of Musical Theatre and its creative process.

YAS 3 (GRADES 6-8)

During our 11-12 week Fall, Winter, and Spring Saturday sessions, our 6th – 8th grade Young Actors will take Method Acting, Acting for TV/Film, and a Performance elective.  Performance electives include: Creating a One-Act or Musical Theatre Production. The Fall, Winter, and Spring Performance elective culminates with a performance. This program is designed to be an intensive introduction to these creative disciplines.

YAS 2 (GRADES 3-5)

During our 9-10 week Fall, Winter, and Spring Saturday sessions, our 3rd – 5th grade Young Actors will take Method Acting and Musical Theatre Production.  The Musical Theatre Production class culminates with a performance. This program is designed to be a fun and intensive introduction to these creative disciplines.

YAS 4 (GRADES 9-12)

During our 11-12 week Fall, Winter, or Spring Saturday session our 9th – 12th grade Young Actors will take Method Acting, Acting for TV/Film, and additional selected courses each session.  Additional courses include: Audition Technique, Voice. Course offerings vary by session and are selected by the YAS Program Director.


SUMMER PROGRAMS

Students are introduced to The Method at a level commensurate with their age in a 2 week fun and Intensive Method Acting summer camp. They will be introduced to exercises that help them express themselves with greater confidence and truth. This program is designed to offer students the opportunity to strengthen their creative process and develop technical performance skills in a supportive, exciting, and focused environment. Summer programs are available to middle school and high school students. High school students have the option to enroll in just one 2-week program or for a more intensive experience, enroll in two back-to-back 2-week programs in the summer.

YAS 3 (GRADES 5-8) & YAS 4 (GRADES 9-12)

The classes being offered this summer: Method Acting, Acting for Film & TV, Comic Improv, Audition Technique, Voice and Movement.(Class offerings vary by program and session.) International and U.S. applicants are welcome!

Tuition: $1,325 (2 Week Summer program)
