Synopsis

References to Salvador Dalí Make Me Hot blends magical realism and gripping drama to tell the story of Gabriela and Benito, a couple in their late 20s who have been together since their teens. Living in the California desert, Gabriela waits for Benito’s return from the Persian Gulf War — but during his absence, she’s been consumed by loneliness and doubt.

Seeking solace, Gabriela sleeps outside under the stars, where she’s visited by surreal figures — the Moon, her pet Cat, and a wandering Coyote — who reflect the intensity and longing of her inner world. When Benito finally comes home, the two collide over their changing desires and the scars of war, forcing Gabriela to question how much of herself she’s given up for love.
