All Summer Long

Details

Synopsis

This is the story of a family, and of a critical summer that brought them to the edge of disaster. The father is stern and terrible toward his two sons. The elder, crippled in an accident, is the idol of his younger brother. As the river rises ever higher, they work together to build a pathetically makeshift retaining wall to save their home while father rants some more, complains of the heat, and willy-nilly leaves the foundation of his home to a distant state-aid program. The sons labor with all their might while the father ridicules them for their lack of responsibility. Their labor is not enough to save their home from the rising tide. The house crumbles. The daughter, brainless but beautiful, allows her vanity to lead her to the brink of a horrible death. There is no saving this family. But the youngest came of age all his own.
