“I wanted to become an actor after performing in my first show, The Wizard of Oz… I ended up playing the lion and fell in love with acting.”

-Kate Casaneuva, Young Actors at Strasberg alumna

WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO BECOME AN ACTOR?
I wanted to become an actor after performing in my first show, The Wizard of Oz. We were required to be in this production, as it was the 4th grade musical. I had never been interested in acting before this show. I ended up playing the lion and fell in love with acting.

WHO’S YOUR INSPIRATION?
My Grandpa is my inspiration. He is 85 and is still extremely hardworking. He even went waterskiing with about a year ago. He is also kind and he is a role model to me.

WHATS AN INTERESTING FACT OR QUALITY ABOUT YOURSELF?
I can hold a headstand for a very long time and I can sometimes spin on my head.

Kate Casanueva is a student of The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute’s Young Actors at Strasberg program. Learn more about Young Actors at Strasberg here.

COVID-19

Dear Students and Prospective Students,

As news of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to develop, we wanted to take time to reassure our community that The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute is monitoring circumstances on a regular basis. We are committed to the well-being and education of our students, faculty and staff. Following in step as other universities and schools, we have transitioned to holding classes remotely in ways that are meaningful.

The Spring 2020 term will begin on April 20th.

These are unique times worthy of serious thought and implementing measures of caution. We trust that our Community will, as always, join together, to find new ways to collaborate, innovate, and continue doing the work we care so deeply about.

Please be sure to follow us on social media for events and updates during this time where we're all Safer at Home.
