Claire Alexander

Claire is an actor, teacher, and formerly trained classical musician in the realms of operatic voice, cello and piano. She has played and sung under the renowned conductors at the Kennedy Center, Notre Dame, Viterbo Italia Mainstage, Hawaii Mainstage Opera, Carnegie Hall and St. John the Divine. She received her certification in longform improv at the Magnet School of Improv under Rick Andrews, and was a longtime pupil of Seth Barrish at the Barrow Group, with emphasis on analysis of text and playing Shakespeare. Work in Shakespeare also extends into numerous roles with numerous Shakespearean companies; including Hamlet Isn’t Dead, Barefoot Shakespeare Company, Hudson Shakespeare, Bergen Shakespeare of NJ and Genesius Theatre Company. In 2018, Claire was a selected artist for Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s CSC2 actor residency, performing a tour of Macbeth and in Boston Common’s summer arena seating of Richard III. Claire is also a proud collaborator with the Pride Center of Brooklyn, helping to marry the concept of the art of Method acting with healing trauma as a means of coping. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance from Manhattan School of Music, as well as a two-year certificate from LSTFI. A proud member of the faculty, Claire has taught Method and audition with YAS since 2017, and is overjoyed to continue to teach a fully immersive character class with the LSTFI institute, weekly.
