LOS ANGELES THEATRE & FILM PROGRAMS
Fall 2020 Announcement
Even though we are facing many challenges right now, Strasberg is committed to preserving the work and changing with the times. We will work to ensure that the material taught in our classes, the plays performed on our stages and the directors and guest artists who grace us with their presence represent the voices, stories and rich cultural diversity of our community. We will ensure that every student feels safe, cared for and heard.
Some of you may be considering postponing your training until life goes back to “normal”. Our world is shifting radically and theatre and the arts are transforming as well. This change will be ongoing. This is the moment for you, as an artist, to embrace change and continue to move forward.
The Institute is currently only authorized to operate online/distance learning classes due to State and Local government restrictions, and therefore Fall is currently scheduled to be Online. Once these restrictions are lifted and the Institute is permitted to offer in-person classes we will be offering limited classes in-person in an outdoor setting. All classes will continue to remain available through the online format for those who are unable to participate in-person.
We are hopeful for Winter 2021 and beyond, we will be able to resume some more normal in-person (and in the building) classes. Our first priority is the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff. Until we are able to fully resume normal operations, we will continue to plan following State and Local guidelines and offer our classes in the most meaningful way possible.
We are confident that, as you continue on your exciting journey of exploration and growth as artists, we will work together to overcome any challenges, inspiring change and moving forward with great hopes for the future.
The power of Lee Strasberg’s work lies in its simplicity – it can be done anytime and anywhere. And as Lee believed, the foundation for all the actor’s work begins in the chair. So let’s all commit ourselves to our craft, to the deepening of our work, and to a daily practice of creativity and imagination–our greatest resource in these difficult times.
Note: The Fall 2020 intake of the AOS degree program (Class of 2022) has been deferred to a Winter 2021 start.
See below some testimonials from our current students who have continued taking classes online:
“I am blown away by tonight’s class!!! Wow!!! I am speechless. Simply Marvelous!!! “
“By far the BEST class I have ever taken in my life!”
“I was astounded at how effective it was. I’ve taken acting classes before, but this feels different, in a good way.”
“My teachers have been really creative with how we can still work on scenes and sensory/relaxation.”
The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute® seeks to carry out its mission by offering the world’s most comprehensive and authentic acting training in The Method™.
The Los Angeles Acting Programs at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute were created by Lee Strasberg and are under the artistic supervision of his wife, Anna Strasberg, and his son, Creative Director David Lee Strasberg.
Lee Strasberg designed the classes to offer actors the opportunity to pursue their work systematically and to gain firsthand knowledge of his fundamental concepts. Here, through class work, seminars, exercises, scene work, demonstrations, commentary and discussions, both professional actors and non-professional actors are encouraged to develop their art and themselves.
Comprehensive training is necessary for actors to reach their maximum potential. The Institute offers carefully designed programs, which vary in level and scope, to empower our actors to face every challenge with courage and confidence.
